Newark-on-Trent Riverside

A short circular walk of about 2 miles around the riverside at Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire.

  • Over Trent Bridge to Newark Castle
  • South-west to Mill Bridge and cross over
  • North-east to the Millennium Bridge and cross over
  • South-west to Trent Bridge and cross over

Part of a causeway built across the flood plane from Muskham Bridge to Newark Trent Bridge in 1772.

A sign on the building says "A perfect copy of a 17th cent. hostelry erected in 1882 as a temperance hotel by Viscountess Ossington a daughter of the Forth Duke of Portland and widow of the first Viscount Ossington one time Speaker of the House of Commons".
